[9] The governing style in the family should be in the<br \/>\nmiddle between strictness and indulgence, with a preference for the former<br \/>\nrather than the latter. Too much strictness creates resentment, and too little<br \/>\nbrings with it family disintegration. A little bit too much strictness does no<br \/>\nharm, because discipline is a good lesson for all to learn. But a little bit<br \/>\ntoo much indulgence introduces weakness and laxity, which can lead to<br \/>\nmisbehavior and humiliation. <o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p>4. [6] The wife, or the subordinate minister, being the<br \/>\nperson responsible for the everyday life of the family or group members, is the<br \/>\nperson who determines how smoothly the members relate and interact. This is the<br \/>\nperson who is in charge of fiscal responsibility and efficiency, and must see<br \/>\nthat expenditures and income are in balance. Keeping operating expenses within<br \/>\nearnings is the key to happiness in any household, as well as in any larger<br \/>\norganization. <o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p>5. [9] The leader of the family, or the community or state,<br \/>\nis respected for his wisdom and abilities. He need not force his will upon<br \/>\nthem, because all love him and honor him for who he is. He governs, not<br \/>\narbitrarily or capriciously, but through the influence of his character and the<br \/>\nintelligence of his decisions. <o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p>Top. The strength of his personal leadership provides the authority<br \/>\nwithin which the subordinate minister operates, the sense of obligation that<br \/>\nmembers feel towards their duties, and the strong ties that members feel toward<br \/>\none another and the family as a whole. Ultimately, the collective character of<br \/>\nthe family is determined by him.
